Hayes investigates contemporary creation and production, analysing the parameters and aesthetics present in the current works of artists of African descent.

Carla Hayes is an Afro-Andalusian artist whose research centers on the exploration of otherness in contemporary art from a postcolonial and feminist perspective. She also investigates contemporary creation and production, analysing the parameters and aesthetics present in the current works of artists of African descent.

 

Hayes graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Málaga in 2019 and completed her Master’s in Interdisciplinary Artistic Production at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Málaga in 2020. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions such as ‘Memorias Mestizas’ at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid; ‘Un paisaje propio’ at Sala de Exposiciones Facultad de Bellas Artes de Málaga; and ‘La hebra que falta’ at Palacio del Almirante, Granada in 2021. She has also participated in group exhibitions including ‘Art for Change’ at Jardín Botánico La Concepción, Málaga (2021); ‘Over the Rainbow’ at Sala Rectorado de Málaga (2021); ‘INT20’ at Centro Cultural MVA, Málaga (2021); ‘Arte Aparte’ (La Carolina, 2020); the Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño, Madrid (2019); and the Art & Breakfast Fair, Málaga (2019).
