Kika Carvalho (1992, Vitória, Brazil), lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
Graduated in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Espírito Santo – UFES, Carvalho's artistic practice is materialized in different supports, techniques and scales, with a careful research around the color blue, which can be related both to the landscapes of the city-island where she was born, as well as with aspects of the history of painting.
Her work is crossed by overseas issues of presence and absence, so dear to the Atlantic diaspora. Her production is also crisscrossed by some experiences, such as the practice of urban painting and art education; in addition to participation in artistic residency programs, such as: Angola AIR – Espaço Luanda Arte (2022); Outra Margem (2021); Vila Sul – Goethe Institute of Salvador (2020); and Malungas (2018), with the Brazilian artist Rosana Paulino.
