FUENTE PERVERSA (PERVERTED SOURCE)
NASAL Project, Mexico City, with Diego Gualadris Curated by Matteo Binci
Perversion is understood as an irreverent attitude towards customary practices and the order of things. Perversion is an environment of resistance, of lucid consciousness towards the mechanisms of disenchantment of the world. Inhabited by deviated images that only await transformation into matter to bite into the identitarian reality. The perverse is everything that deviates from the canons of righteousness, and that is why power demonizes it. It uses it to generate strategies for the production of the different and the consequent criminalization. Perversion, whether of the image or of the body, is alterity and the disturbance of the state of the world. It acts in the cracks and the opacity. We reclaim the right to opacity, the need for all of us to not be completely transparent or assigned to incomprehensibility. Opacity is the interstice, the threshold of understanding that is never concluded, the redemption of the obviousness of transparency and imposed dichotomies. Opacity is the suspicion that allows us to imagine a body of corroded, transforming, and untranslatable images. Therefore, we imagine a source of perversion, a humid underworld of murky waters and coexistence among expelled species. A source made of matter understood as living energy, a pulsating matrix that bilaterally negotiates its polymorphic forms with the human and the monstrous, constituting itself as an agent subject and matter of the world. Matter that becomes a context for relational transmutations, unorthodox thoughts, and surplus subjectivities. Accompanied by a crocodile girl—a modern Charon who, nevertheless, transports those destined to wander endlessly through the mists of the river—we venture into the bowels of a history dictated by multiple times. We immerse ourselves in the intestines of an intestinal thought capable of digesting differences and their relationships without producing satisfactory or material synthesis. We shipwreck in a perverse water that dilutes our reasons and compacts our desires. We swim in subterranean, connective, and deep forces, substrates for an existence that does not flee to the sky but reconnects with immanence. We swim, unprotected, in a viscous liquid to reach our Perverted Source. Matteo Binci
